Hello Parents,
It was so nice to talk with you at parent-teacher conferences this week! Thank you for all of your support. I am grateful to be working with such a dedicated group of parents. PARENTS AND PASTRIES - This Monday, March 2nd is Read Across America Day, a celebration of the life and work of Dr. Seuss. Odyssey will be hosting a “Parents and Pastries” event before school, from 7:45-8:15. Please bring a book and join us as we enjoy some reading time together with our kids. KINDNESS COUNTS - I am taking some time with our class to revisit the basics of what it means to be a good friend. Each day after lunch, we are watching a “Word on the Street” (Sesame Street Workshop ) video podcast, and we are talking about ideas that are foundational to kindness and friendship. These are the ideas we have discussed this week: Cheer - Giving words of encouragement or congratulations Cheer Patience - To wait in a calm way Patience Include - To invite someone to be part of the group. Include FIELD TRIP - Our field trip to the Living Planet Aquarium will be Wednesday, March 11th. I will be sending more information next week to let you know what to expect. If you have already returned the permission slip, thank you. If you have not, please complete and return the signed form no later than Friday, March 6th. I have had several parents ask about coming along as chaperones. I am sending a separate email today with information about the requirements for chaperone volunteers, and if you are interested, please let me know. Please be aware that I am only able to choose a limited number of chaperones. The first grade school lunch orders for March 11th have been cancelled, and funds reimbursed. Our class will be expected to bring a home lunch on the day of our field trip. We will be eating together in our classroom when we return. Have a wonderful weekend! I hope to see you Monday morning.
