Research has consistently shown that daily reading leads to academic gains and greater success in school. With this in mind, we ask parents to encourage their child's home reading habits.
Students are required to read at home at least 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for a total of 400 minutes each month.
Beginning in September, a monthly reading calendar will be sent home with your child. You will keep track of your child's reading for the entire month. At the end of the month, these calendars are to be returned to school for a grade. You are welcome to alternate between time spent reading to your child, and time spent having your child read to you.
