Monthly Book Reports Beginning in September, students will complete a classical book report each month.
A genre of literature will be designated for each month's book report; Please select a book within the specified genre. There will also be a specific report form given each month for your student to use in completing the book report. Books should be chosen from the school's list of quality classical literature. (Please use your own discernment in choosing appropriate subject matter for your first grader.) If there is a book that your child would like to read that is not on the classical literature list, please request approval by sending me an email with the title and author. |
Monthly Reading CalendarsResearch has consistently shown that daily reading
leads to academic gains and greater success in school. Required home reading is at least 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for a total of 400 minutes each month. Beginning in September, a monthly reading calendar will be sent home with your child. You will keep track of your child's reading for the entire month. At the end of the month, these calendars are to be returned to school for a grade. Please make this a pleasant experience for your child. Alternate between time spent reading to your child, and time spent having your child to read to you. |
If you can read, you can learn
anything about everything & everything about anything.
