Welcome back!
And welcome to the second term of first grade. DIBELS TESTING - The children have finished their winter DIBELS reading tests, and we are evaluating their reading progress. I have been pleased to see how much our students are learning and improving. We are going to be working closely with those who need some extra reading coaching. Our goal is to have all of our students become proficient readers by the end of first grade. OPEN HOUSE - We have an open house scheduled for February 2nd. Please invite your friends to come and take a tour of our school - give them an opportunity to find out about all of the exciting things that we are happening here. JANUARY AMBASSADOR - We are so proud of Sky, our January AMBASSADOR OF LOYALTY. Sky is a kind and true friend. She has a generous spirit and she is always willing to extend herself to help and encourage those around her. We are lucky to have her in our class. I am so proud of how diligently your children are working. I am so thankful to be their teacher. Sincerely, Ms. Novotne

Hello parents.
I hope you are looking forward to having a little extra time to spend with your kids this weekend. I know that your kids are looking forward to having a day off from school. We have had such a busy, exciting week learning about Mexico, and it was so fun to see how happy the kids were as they celebrated Mexican culture and celebrations in our CET. MUCHAS GRACIAS to all of our volunteers, and also to everyone who donated supplies. Everyone pulled together in such an amazing way, and we had everything that we needed. A very special thanks to Amy Andrew, our CET coordinator, for all of your fantastic leadership and many hours of service. There are just a few things to remember as we head into the weekend: NO SCHOOL on MONDAY, JANUARY 16TH - We will be closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. We will see you all again on Tuesday. NO SCHOOL LUNCH on TUESDAY, JANUARY 17 - There will be no school lunch on Tuesday. The Provo school district, who provides our lunches, will be closed for a Professional Development day. This will be our first day back after a long weekend, so PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND A LUNCH for your child. Have a lovely weekend. See you all next week. Sincerely, Ms. Novotne Hello parents, and happy New Year!
It has been so nice to welcome back all of our darling first graders. They have done such a great job of getting back into their routine; they are working hard, and ready to learn. Mexico CET - Next Friday, January 13th, is our CET on Mexico. We have so many exciting activities planned: dancing, storytelling, crafts, food tasting, and even a pinata! I hope that many of you will be able to come and be part of the fun. For those who cannot make it, but would like to donate supplies, please take a look at the sign up list. Go to sign up genius: 1st grade Mexico to find out how you can volunteer, or to sign up for donations. End of Term - Term 2 ends on January 13th, and I will be finalizing all grades for this quarter. Please check your child’s ASPIRE account to see if there are any missing assignments that need to be completed before then. (If you have not yet set up an ASPIRE account, you can find out how to do so here: About ASPIRE / Academic Progress January Hero Awards - Each month we reward those students who have had perfect attendance throughout the month.
